The work belongs to the monumental project "NIBELUNGENLIED" of Genia Chef which tours through museums and castles along the Rhine and the Danube river, from Germany through Austria to Hungary.

 Hagen, the Immortal Hero of the German epos Nibelungenlied, is the main acting character of the poem. He unites all the ambivalent qualities of a knight, light and shadow of life in the Middle Ages: loyalty and betrayal, love and hate, generosity and cruelty.

In the image of Hagen von Tronje the artist Genia Chef returns the legendary treasure of the Nibelungs to the people and guides us through his exhibition NIBELUNGENLIED at Castle Pfalzgrafenstein, located in the middle of the Rhine.

Genia Chef takes the shape of Hagen guiding us through the exhibition with monumental paintings and numerous graphical works in the Museum Heylshof of the city Worms.

Exhibition in Passau, November-October 2022

Impressions from the opening of the  exhibition Nibelungenlied of the artist Genia Chef at Kulturmodell Passau. Many experts think that the immortal poem of the Song of the Nibelungs has been written in Passau.

Opening with the Mayor of Passau, Armin Dickl, introduction speech by Prof. Dr. Andrea Sieber from the University of Passau who has been doing research about the Nibelungenlied since years. Music performance by Knud Seckel, playing on a Gothic harp and singing verses of the epos in medieval German from the times of the Nibelungs.

Exhibition at the Kokoschka Museum, Pöchlarn, March-April 2023

The city of Pöchlarn on the Danube is described in the medieval epic of the Nibelungenlied as the place where Rüdiger von Bechelaren, one of the heroes of the epic, was born.

The exhibition of Genia Chef takes place in a unique historical space in Pöchlarn, the house where the famous Austrian painter Oskar Kokoschka was born. Today this building is a museum.
